$52 million mattress factory approved for Brisbane

A $52 million Sleepmaker and Dunlop Foams factory has been approved for Murarrie, in south east Brisbane.

The 35,216sqm factory will be “world class” and will result in the creation of 50 jobs, according to owner The Comfort Group.

The Comfort Group manufactures products for the Sleeper, Sleepyhead, Simmons, Dunlopillo, Design Mobel, Serta and Dunlop Foams brands.

The group has a foam plant in Ipswich with 170 workers, and will move to Murrarie when its lease expires in 2018. Its workforce will be expanded to 220 to staff the new facility.

All up, Comfort Group will be spending $112 million on the development, including new jobs and the $52 million factory.
